Apparently, a series of photos of Jessica Simpson have caused quite a stir amongst some media gossip hounds. While this is primarily a menswear blog, I want to touch upon a personal preference and very important subject for women from a man’s POV.
If someone were to ask me “what is wrong with the picture below” I would answer this: NOTHING. Look at how beautiful she looks with a little more weight on her. I actually never found her that attractive but now I am absolutely crushing on her because of the few more pounds that have made her look like a gorgeous 1950′s pin up.
Jessica Simpson, I salute your new body. The mom jeans must go!
That, my friends, is a DAMN FINE body. I think women are supposed to be full and voluptuous; not waifs.
If there are any female readers out there who are are afraid of becoming a size 6, please don’t be. I urge you to stay just the way you are.
And instead of hanging that Meghan Fox picture in front of you at work for inspiration, hang the one of Jessica up instead…just in a different outfit, please. She should totally go for the 50′s Marylin Monroe look and WORK WITH WHAT SHE’S GOT NOW.
Be big, be beautiful, and most importantly WEAR IT WELL!

jessica simpson is not big…at all…period.
Let me be very clear on my post: i do not think Jessica Simpson is “big“. I think she looks healthy. However, I know that in the state of the media right now there is an influx of thin being in. I, personally, would rather see thicker women being praised. And though my closing statement may seem like I was referring to Ms. Simpson, I wasn’t. I just think bigger is beautiful.
re Dennis Cahlo’s Jessica Simpson remarks: I agree with him 100%. For various reasons I work very hard to stay size 6. But I have always thought that many body types are gorgeous. Jessica Simpson looks gorgeous. Voluptuousness is beautiful and sensuous. It is offensive that people of the press and others of Jessica’s fellow human beings make mean-spirited remarks. Opinions can be expressed in a decent and positive way. I think that whatever clothes a person feels comfortable in are appropriate. Social taboos forbid nudity. O.k., no to public nudity. Gang clothing is one instigator of violence. O.k., no gang clothing. Employers and many schools require specific uniforms or near uniforms. O.k., noncompliance means that you cannot enroll or work in those places. I get that. But I think that we deprive ourselves and diminish our sense of wholeness when we cowtow to pressure from the outside to ‘dress a certain way’. My impression is that Mr. Cahlo has preferences-the ever lovely Marilyn Monroe look- and probably others. I have preferences, too. But they are my preferences– whether incorporated into myself because I like how they look on me or because I create something for myself. I hope that people leave Ms. Jessica alone and allow her to be herself. Thank you.
