Ask Men – Style Bible

I love some of the forums and tips on Ask Men. Below is a link to their very helpful style bible. It’s more about how suits and shirts should be cut than a stuffy rule book. Plus the illustrations will make very good print outs for your style notebook.

Also, I know I promised photos of my INDOCHINO suit, but I am swamped in work this week. Hopefully by the weekend I will have some time to share the results with all of you.

Imparali Custom Tailors, New York City

After my last experience with tailoring it was very refreshing to have a new one that was filled with professionalism, courtesy, and best of all excellent results.

Last week I stepped into the modest office of Imparali Custom Tailors on fifth avenue and was zipped through a very efficient pinning of my first Indochino suit. As I was being pinned I noticed that all the alterations are done on premises which is a great thing. I was asked to call back in a week and today was the day.

When I got there I was greeted by a very friendly Matt Harpalani who is continuing the grand tradition of custom clothing and alterations from the founder Bob Harpalani. He called me by my first name, shook my hand, and was generally a pleasure to deal with. I tried on the finished product and it is absolutely wonderful. I asked him if I should take in the pant legs a bit more and he graciously explained exactly why that would be a bad idea.

The rates are fair for the service provided. Sleeves are $20 a piece, jacket $45, hemming is $20, and pants are $25. My Indochino suit is now a beautifully custom crafted peice that slips onto my body like a glove. Expect photos tonight once I get home.

GQ Slide Show – Neil Patrick Harris

I loved this series when I saw it in last months GQ. The cuts of these suits are great:

Overstock Alert: Linen Suit

There are some people who are opposed to linen and some who are not. I do enjoy a nice linen suit in the summer. Understand that a linen suit is susceptible to many wrinkles and creases but if you have a strong will to iron it (or have it professionally pressed at your dry cleaner) you may really enjoy the breathable feel of one in the warmer months. Below is a decent two button number I found on Overstock for $145. It will need tailoring but from the looks of it not that much (maybe in the $100-$175 range).

Big Skinny Wallet

I just came across a handsome, affordable wallet that keeps bulk to a minimum at a little price ($7.95-$24.95). They’re called THE BIG SKINNY WALLET.

These should be great right inside of your inside suit pocket with not the slightest bit of bulge:

Indochino Alert – Free Shirts

Yes, I have been pimping Indochino lately. Why? Great people, great service, great product. Plus I brought my first suit to IMPARALI CUSTOM TAILORS on Monday and they were very impressed with the make of the suit. Expect a review of Imparali and a full profile on my finished Indochino suit.

I urge you all to take the leap and order from them. My suggestion would be to leave the sleeves and pants unhemmed so you can get the lengths  just right. Also, if you want a slimmer cut, REQUEST ONE or go an inch down from your actual measurements (this was recommended to me by my tailor).

Check out their very limited edition plaid suits. If you buy one now you get two shirts absolutely free (UPDATE: STYLE BELOW HAS SOLD OUT ALREADY. HOPEFULLY, THERE WILL BE MORE SOON):
