Subtlety In Pattern Mixing
About a week ago I went out to a party where you either had to dress up like a Hobo or Fancy. I chose Fancy. Because this was a shindig that was filled with many eccentric artists, actresses, and bizarre sartorial choices I decided to be a bit brave and mix a bunch of patterns together. The result was most pleasing and caught the eye of many at the party. What I realized was that it was the subtlety of the patterns that made it look good. The gingham shirt’s checks were just the right size as well as the polka dots on the tie and the pinstripes in the jacket. It was like a very tasteful yet intricate painting. Below is a shot of the detail:
This got me itching for more subtle mixes and I came up with a nice one for Mother’s Day brunch today:

Love the patterns you mixed on the top photo and color of the shirt in the second photo. Which H&M did you get that shirt at? I really like it and did you see any other colors of that gingham pattern? We dont have a H&M in Arkansas and ill be heading up to NYC around Memorial Day weekend so I figure I can at least get an idea of what to look at/for.
Thanks Ron.
Hi Ron,
I purchased my gingham shirt from the H&M on 42nd and 5th Avenue. There is an even better one on 5th Avenue and 52nd street where you will find a lot more options for men. The mens section on 42nd is pitiful.
Have an excellent trip to NYC! Make sure to visit Imparali and browse their shirt materials if you get a chance. You can’t beat a custom made shirt as a souvenir from NYC.
All the best,
Dennis Cahlo
I see you purchased another Indochino suit. Shall we expect a review?
Definitely!
Best,
