A Peacoat For The Fall
This fall if you invest in a new coat, make it the Old Navy Peacoat. I found one at my local O.N. and fell in love with it’s trim cut, warm wool, neck belt, and soft lining. At only $79.50 this is a coat will give you years of wear and way more bang for your buck.
What to pair it with:

I love buying stuff out of season because you get it at ridiculously low prices. I have found a grey, flannel pea coat as well Dennis. And I’m going to keep it til next year because it is spring in South Africa right now.
The accessories are a great combination and complement. I like how the bag is off-kilter in terms of colour because it breaks the monotony of gray/ charcoal you have going on.
See this is my problem. In the past I have purchased an Old Navy Pea Coat and it lasted about half the winter and was not warm at all. I think if you are going to spend the money, fork over a few more at a good army navy store and purchase a REAL pea coat. I have had mine fore about 4 or 5 years now. Dry cleaning keeps it in great condition as it is warm as hell. Just my take on things…….
I visit this site regularly because I love all your sartorial ideas regardless of whether or not they are budget friendly. However, I will have to agree with Jim about being cautious of Old Navy (especially winter) coats for all the same reasons.
I picked up this classic pea coat below for like $130 about 3 years ago and I love its durability and warmth.

Hey Patrick And Jim,
Thanks for the feedback, guys. Patrick, thank you for adding a suggestion for my readers.
All I have to say about the Old Navy Peacoat is that it IS durable and it IS warm. Maybe they’ve upped the quality this season from when you both bought from them but I am very happy.
This was not a planned purchase. I went to Old Navy with a friend of mine and saw the coat and was really impressed with the fabric, cut, and warmth. The wool is very thick. The lining itself could be thicker but layering will aid that.
Anyway, I appreciate the feedback but I have to say…don’t knock it ’til you try it…again.
All the best,
Dennis Cahlo
What’s the skinny on the eyeglasses? Ever think about a post on the topic?
p.s. What’s good with the album?

J.,
I’ll definitely be doing an eye glass post soon.
My album WINTER IN MEDORA will be available as a free download on 11/1/09 from denniscahlo.com which is under construction. I’ve also started working on a new album called SHOOT THE MOON which is a lot different than MEDORA. SHOOT THE MOON is more filthy rock.
You can hear tracks from both here: http://www.facebook.com/d.cahlo
Best,

I bought one last year for half the price mid-fall.
I did have to get it in 1 size smaller though for a slimmer fit. But previous comments are right that it won’t handle the cold as well or needs layers to keep warm.
