Raising Caine: The Alfie

Suit: Lands' End, Shirt + Cufflinks: Indochino, Pocket Square: Perry Ellis, Shoes: H&M

When I think of the original ALFIE I think swinging London and slim cut Saville Row suits. For this look I put together what I think would have definitely been part of Alfie’s sartorial rotation. Grey pinstripe slim tailored suit, white french cuff shirt with silver cufflinks, white pocket square, no tie, and some brown shoes.

This is a very simple yet effective piece that works on any man. Even if you’re not as promiscuous as Alfie was.

  1. This is just amazing man. Jesus. lol. Simply put, I could see myself catching the last train to Paris in this number. In your personal opinion Dennis, what’s your take on wearing a black pinstripe 3-piece suit, with brown wingtips? To accompany it, a red pindot tie, with a white french-cuff shirt, and black cuff links? Now the occasion would be something semi-formal, but not enough where a tux would be in order.

    • Thank you so much, Fair-Rose.

I’m probably about to get a lot of shit for saying this but I am ALL FOR a pair of reddish/brown oxfords (not quite oxblood. more like the shoes pictured in this post) with a black pinstripe 3 piece suit. The key is really within the coloring though. It’s a damn bold statement that many traditionalists will poo-poo but I say go for it. If you want to be really bold, try a thick striped shirt with no tie.

      Best,
      Dennis

  2. That’s what I was thinking… I have a pretty dark skin complexion (think Ozwald Boateng), and reddish/brown I think would really extenuate the pinstripes accordingly. Keep it classy D.
