A Sincere Thank You
All,
A reader just posted a great comment that had my wheels turning a bit.
He let me know that in some recent comments I have come across as a bit cocky and defensive when critiqued.
While this is true, I cannot express how much I appreciate you all and your frequent visits and comments good or bad.
My rant on Monday about Style Forum was, in my mind, justified.
What is not justified, however, is the way I have been reacting to my own reader’s critiques. I looked back at the past few months and can see exactly what the commenter was talking about and will patiently go back and delete those responses as they are not very becoming of me.
I want all of you to know that I do this blog out of love for menswear and the guys who can’t really afford to go Bespoke. I don’t do it for money or recognition. I do it because I feel every man has the right to look amazing whether he makes $30,000 a year or $600,000 a year. And when I feel I am being unfairly critiqued I get defensive which is a bit unfair to my readers.
This blog started with a meager 20 hits per week and has jumped to 4,000-5,000. That jump has everything to do with you all sticking with me and I owe you a great amount of thanks.
I hope that in the past few weeks I have not turned any of you off from reading.
My sincerest thanks and best wishes,
Dennis Cahlo

Thank you, Dennis. I enjoy your blog.
I’m really glad you do, KFad!!
Hey Dennis,
Sorry for the hours of extra work.
Your blog is still on my list, and I’m glad you were able to see what I meant.
Keep posting!
Dude.
I appreciate you calling me out on my douchebaggery, Dude.
Thank you for your blog Dennis, I’ve always enjoyed it.
Just a bit of advice though, I’ve been on numerous forums where people can be vicious for the sheer purpose of belittling the other person. All I can say is: don’t feed the trolls. Just ignore them and that’ll be that.
mw
MW, you are SO right. I’ll never retort to this nonsense again.
Truth be told, I just wanted to justify a photo of me flipping the bird in a suit.
Have a good one,
Dennis
And a great picture it was.
Don’t let them (whoever they may be) get you down.
I can still beat up most people ……if ya need it old friend……. it’s all that and a bag of chips……
Made to Measure is consistently entertaining and informative, and I think your approach — finding good quality clothes for men on a realistic budget, for realistic purposes — is rarely executed with comparable success.
This sort of “mea culpa” is even rarer and more valuable still.
Plus, for what it’s worth, I think you usually look pretty great.
J,
Thank you so much for this. I’m not going to let some pretentious poofs get me down. More updates coming tomorrow.
Best,
Dennis
Isn’t that the mark of true growth? When your haters multiply in proportion to the number of loyal viewers and fans?
Like MW and Scuzzle have suggested, they’re not even worth your attention. Keep up the great work!
Barron, excellent point!!!
Still waiting for you to review a double-breasted Dennis
Well sir, your wish will be granted soon enough. Matt at Imparali and I are cooking up something real nice.
Best,
Dennis
Haha… when you get a chance D, see if you can comment on my Indochino Review
Fantastic review, FR!!! The Navy was an excellent choice. So the cotton actually feels heavier, yes? Interesting…
I’m so glad the suit measurements worked out for you. I’m looking very forward to reading more of your thoughts on your blog.
Have a great day,
Dennis
Dennis,
No matter what, I love your Postings and have referred a number of Good Fellows to your blog; I am also working on a blog of my own of the same stature, from the other side of the Hudson, Gold Coast of NJ. Yourself, we men who are Fashionistas have a right to express their feelings on people who critique on our style Choices, and wear them with boldness. I am also waiting on your review on a double-breasted from Indochino.
Keep up the Great work,
Hass
Hi Hass,
Thank you so much! Please share your blog with us once it is up and running.
The double breasted suit I will be working on is with my tailor Matt at IMPARALI just to clear up any confusion. I deal with Indochino and Imparali directly for most of my suits.
My Best,
Dennis
Thanks very much for your blog. You provide a great and entertaining service so don’t let the bastards get you down.
