End Of Winter Blues 2
What I will miss most about dressing up for the winter is the layering portion. Cashmere v-neck sweaters under a nice wool herringbone jacket is always a favorite of mine. One thing I desperately need is a more colorful pocket square for this ensemble. Something in a deep red with yellow trim would be perfect.

Jacket: Uniqlo, Shirt: Imparali Custom Tailors, Tie: Brooks Brothers, Cashmere Sweater: Club Room, Pants: Merona, Pocket Square: Perry Ellis

I’d leave it white with that ensemble.
but is you need a nice PS, check out Kent Wang, http://www.kentwang.com. He’s a haberdasher who makes everything available in his store. The prices can’t be beat.
The Gigham Pocket Squares are REALLY nice. Thanks for this.

Hey Dennis
I love the site and am a daily follower. Your doing a great job and the haters are just what they are. haters. I was gonna ask, how do you think the Uniqlo blazers fit? Im a 5’6, 120lbs, 34 short chest size. Would a size small from them work good? Wish there was a Uniqlo in Arkansas to try out but I thinking of ordering them over the phone.
Hey Ron,
Thanks for the support. I really appreciate it.
As far as Uniqlo goes, I bought the one above as a small and it needed no alterations. Since you seem a bit shorter and lighter than me, I would say you would probably have to have the jacket altered if purchased as a small. I know they DO make extra smalls but you have to strike whilst the iron is burning hot.
I love this blazer by them, though. it is of surprisingly good wool stock.
Best,
Dennis
Hey thanks for the reply. Yea i figured i would have to do alterations considering my size. Thats what i hate about being my size is that alot of the stuff has to be altered for the best fit. Yea i knew Uniqlo has XS but like you say, it goes very fast. Im gonna order the Uniqlo black slim fit blazer and hope that it will work after the alterations.
Dennis,
How does one colour coordinate so well like yourself?
The first challenge was to get clothes within a budget that looked good, and once that hurdle was overcome, matching different clothes is a pain.
I’m usually, like yourself above, a tie, shirt, jumper and sport coat man – but matching things can become a pain, even with trial and error. So for example, I have the staple coloured shirts (however they are of the button-down J Crew sort), and then the staple colour jumpers too. Its matching this AND THEN matching with a sport coat in particular which is a problem (i.e. which sport coat to use, navy, tweed, herringbone(sp) etc etc). Any tips and if possible, example colour coordination with pictures you could give, would be much appreciated mate
Thanks for all your help.
Best Wishes,
LS.
Hi Lost Soul,
First off, thank you so much for this comment and the one under my Alexander McQueen post.
There is an amazing book that every man should own called DRESSING THE MAN by Alan Flusser which goes over a lot of menswear topics one of which being skin tone and what colors work well with them. You can get the book here: http://www.amazon.com/Dressing-Man-Mastering-Permanent-Fashion/dp/0060191449/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1265940289&sr=8-1
In terms of coordinating them I don’t really have a magic formula but I will work on a color combination post for next week. A lot of it is trial and error. I love pink/green/gray combinations as well as navy/green/brown.
Sorry I couldn’t answer this more thoroughly. Hopefully a color combo post will help a bit!
All the best,
Dennis
Oh and with regards to the above, I don’t work in an office or anything – I’m currently studying for my medical degree and so basically have lectures etc all day, so dress-style tends to be preppy smartish as opposed to outright smart, if that makes sense.
Thanks.
Ah, I see. Have you thought of going for a take on the Ivy League preppy look? There’s a great movie called THE PAPER CHASE that has some very interesting 70′s preppy style. An update version of something like that may work for you.
Everytime I think of this look I can see a brownish tweed blazer, red v neck sweater, blue oxford shirt, jeans, red socks and brown shoes. Have you ever tried something like that?
Best,
Dennis
Speaking of gingham pocket squares, I just saw these the other day.
