Introducing the Indochino Tailor’s Kit

For those of you who have experienced purchasing some threads from Indochino you may, like myself, at times get frustrated with not being able to actually TOUCH the fabrics they offer. This has been a major gap between Indochino and true custom tailoring in where you sit down and hand pick the fabrics you would like to have your suit made from.

Always ahead of their own game, Indochino is now offering what they call The Tailor’s Kit:

The Tailor’s Kits are handmade exactly to a customer’s specifications and come complete with 16 interchangeable fabric swatches chosen at the point of purchase. Also included are two Indochino measuring tapes to make the next step towards ordering a custom-made suit even easier. Tailor’s Kits are shipped for free and arrive within five days and come with a $29 credit towards the next purchase.

The Tailor’s Kits will be available on February 28, 2010 for $29 at www.indochino.com.

    Dennis,

That’s just awesome! I’m going to get one on 02/28/2010! It’s something good to have especially if I intend to purchase more suits from them (which I most likely will!). Thanks for posting this. The Tailor’s Kit looks sleek!

    Cheers,
    Rufino
(Hope our Chicago blizzard hasn’t hit NY!)

    • Isn’t it great? It will really help everyone to find the perfect fabric. I’m not sure if any other custom online suiting company offers this for such a reasonable price.

The snow storm has hit us and will most likely continue into the weekend. Luckily, I just bought some Wolverine work books yesterday. These things are built like tanks.

      Have a good one!

I think that http://www.suitopia.com does have a swatch book, but only of 6 fabrics… not 16! And it doesn’t come w/ measuring tapes. Nice boots! I’ve been rocking my Timberlands from last year. Blizzard proof.

I have a week off in the beginning of March and will be setting up my blog (finally). I’ll shoot you an email or put it in a reply to one of your posts (w/ your permission of course).

      • I never tried Suitopia. Are they worth looking into?

Please post in the reply! I’d love for my readers to check your blog out.

Blizzard proof boots are a must. Those GUESS boots I purchased earlier in the year proved to be too pansy to handle this winter’s shit storms. Wish I could afford Wolverine’s 1000 mile boot but $60 trumps $375 every time. And I’m sure the ones I bought are built to last. And you DEFINITELY need some sturdy ones to handle Chicago winters. I’ve been there in the cold seasons and it’s brutal.

I’ve heard mixed reviews about them. I don’t like the fact that they don’t have a “Perfect Fit Guarantee” like Indochino does. That’s key to me when you first jump into the online m-t-m world. $60 always over $375 for winter boots. Wolverine boots seem bomb proof. If it works for construction workers, it should work for us. Chicago winters ARE brutal. The storms are never spread out… when they hit, they hit freakin’ hard. I’ve never been to NY yet, but I probably won’t go to visit during the winter for my first time.

As always, keep up the great work!

    • You should come to NYC this summer.

My fiancee and I can take you to Siren Fest at Coney Island.

Dennis, I think it’s important that you disclose any/all financial/promo arrangements you have with any 3rd party vendors you rate/review/promote about. This directly addresses the credibility of anything you write. Standard stuff.

    February 25, 2010
    • I’m not exactly sure what you mean, Stern. Am I supposed to be doing this on every blog post because you are skeptical?

If you ever do run a blog, Stern, and it becomes somewhat successful, you are going to see a lot of press releases thrown at you. I feature the companies I believe in and have had a first hand experience with.

But to appease you this one time:

Indochino doesn’t pay me. I love what they do and have a healthy working relationship with them. I have mentioned this in SEVERAL blog posts and do not feature their suits exclusively.

If a music blogger gets a free CD, are they to disclose that info too?

And is it me or are more and more commenters getting really critical of how I operate my blog?

I know I’ve got flack about being defensive but I’m starting to get REALLY annoyed at constantly being asked to defend what I write about.

Don’t take this too personally, Stern. I’m happy you are a reader.

      Best,
      Dennis

    I got your back Dennis.

Ever since I’ve been following your blog, it seems like very other post had someone questioning you about having ties with the companies you review. After one of your replies to said questioning, I’ve taken your word. If I had the funds to purchase more suits, they would almost all be from Indochino because of their superior customer service and amazing custom products.

Just because you review that product doesn’t automatically mean you have ties to them.

    • Thanks, Rufino.

What I find laughable is this whole “credibility” thing. I know a guy who has been wearing RALPH LAUREN his entire life. If he started a blog and featured ONLY Ralph Lauren clothing because he loved it, I wonder if he would catch shit? And has anyone noticed that I feature more than one company on this blog? When I post about H&M or Uniqlo, no one says shit.

Listen, guys, if you think what I write about isn’t credible THEN DON’T READ THE BLOG. I can’t constantly repeat myself about this shit anymore.

      February 25, 2010
      • And to expound on that last rant:

THIS BLOG ISN’T ABOUT THE BRAND OR SELLING CLOTHES. IT’S ABOUT PUTTING KICK ASS OUTFITS TOGETHER SO YOU CAN LOOK GREAT AND POSSIBLY GET LAID.

That’s all I’m saying about this. If anyone else is questioning my credibility, e-mail me directly.

    Hey Man

I totally love your blog and i dont get what is up with all of the people hating and stuff. I think people have forgotten that this is YOUR blog and YOU can do with it as YOU please. I dont think there is anything wrong with giving input and criticism but i thought that Sternbow’s comment was uncalled for. Any who reads your blog, knows that you talk about what works for you and what you like personally and i dont feel like im being pushed to buy something. Your giving great fashion tips and advice and thats all what this blog is about and thats what I love about it. Anyways keep up the great work man and remind these peeps that your blog is not a democracy, haha.

    February 25, 2010
    • Ron,

      THANK YOU.

Any more of these comments are getting deleted. It’s just not worth my time or my readers time.

The last thing I want is the focus to be on comment threads.

The content and principle of this blog is what counts and I will not stand for the bullshit anymore.

      Best,
      Dennis

The tailor’s kit from Indichino looks very well put together in the same sense as their website. It’s details such as these that have me very interested into possibly purchasing a MTM suit from them.
I just wish I could get functioning button holes on the sleeve for my initial purchase.

    February 25, 2010
    • Ron #

I received functioning button holes on my initial order. When I was selecting my customization options, it was listed, and I picked it. I think at one point they didn’t allow it on initial orders, but they probably do now.

      February 25, 2010
    • Paul,

They offer full customization on all suits that include functioning button holes on the sleeves, ticket pockets, sides tabs, and a slew of other options. It’s all on the website under CUSTOMIZATION and after picking your suit, you can choose which options you want.

I highlighted some of these in a post on the last suit they made for me :

    February 28, 2010
    • Hi Rick,

      There is no direct link.

After you create your account, all the way at the bottom on the MY ACCOUNT list is a link to TAILOR’S KIT ORDER. An account is free to set up

      Hope that helps!

      Best,
      Dennis
