H&M Does Formal Slippers
I do not often let out my inner dandy tending to suppress such flair with a more simplistic approach to style. But once in a blue I like to place a flower in my lapel and let that inner dandy break free.
Enter my fascination with the formal slipper a shoe which has never gone away but has enjoyed quite a comeback recently. Many options are out there but my inner cheapist shone through this afternoon when finding an affordable pair at GQ.com by H&M. Listed at only $29.95 I had some doubts that these shoes would even come close to being of any substantial quality. After a quick trip to the H&M at 51st and 5th I was proved more than wrong.
Made from soft velvet, tufted cushion interior, and nice leather (yes LEATHER) soles, these may be the best alternative to the more expensive counterparts. Oh yeah, they are also the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned.
Unfortunately, these only run with one design on the toe but for that nice price how can you resist?

The shoes aren’t to my taste but I can see how they would appeal to many. I actually work near the H&M you mentioned but have only been inside to purchase gift cards for very young family members. What else do they have in there?

Unfortunately H&M has nothing of SUBSTANTIAL quality adorning it’s racks but for the young, broke, and stylistically inclined I think it’s great. Their tweed jackets this year are actually impressive boasting wood buttons and a decent hand of cloth.
Any idea as to geographic availability of these? If there is no chance they are going to shop up in H&M stores outside NYC, I am certainly not going to try and find a parking spot at the mall this time of year

Unfortunately I do not have a head’s up on availability across the states. Sometimes I wish H&M offered an online purchasing option.
So for now I say brave the mall parking lot. You’ll look quite sharp sporting these on New Year’s Eve with a tux.

I bought a pair today, but mine does not have leather soles.
Maybe that’s another issue of these in Europe.
Maybe I’m mistaken then. They seem rubber over lay at the tip but there is a space in the middle that is most definitely not.
Anyway, I am really glad you found them, though.

Again, I do not know if all stores have them. You’ll have to check your local H&M or call them to see if they do.

When I was there last week there was a fairly good selection. I found a few pairs of 10 and 8. I’m a 10 so I lucked out.

I live in Scottsdale, AZ and as of May I believe they still had them. I’m kicking myself for not picking up a pair.. I just saw a pair sell on ebay for $140.
